For many Marshall residents, it’s been an eyesore for years. But soon, those residents may see more clearly. The diagonal wooden design, chipping posts and trim, and red metallic overhangs at Marshall Plaza will soon be gone. According to Bill Riggins, director of Marshall-Saline Development Corporation, the entire complex will receive a facelift.
“They’re going to redo it (much like) Aldi’s” storefront, Riggins said.
Septagon Construction will soon begin working on the remodel, although no start date has yet been confirmed. Economic developers hope contractors can also provide roof repair at some point in the near future.
City officials and business owners have seemed to struggle with redesign efforts with owners Marshall Plaza LLC for several years, having once gone as far as receiving bids for the project more than three years ago. The project’s estimated value on a recent list of construction permits was listed at $600,000.
